A big thank you to the Toowoomba connection Harry, Denise, Steven and Carolyn for making the trip down to enjoy the sites along the Brisbane River. Ron and Corrine also join us for the day. We checked out the markets at South Bank and then the traditional stop at the New Zealand ice-creamery where we all indulged!!!!The weather was fine and the water smooth and we continued up the river to the University, and then about turn and all the way back to Bulimba. It is a totally different view of our city and it changes every time you cruise our mighty river. We got an up close look at the new Kurilpa pedestrian bridge. Thank you members for a most enjoyable day. This was a busy month with Cleveland swap and car show just a fortnight after the river cruise, Boy!!!! is this day getting big? There were close on 600 cars on display and it took you a couple of hours to look at all of them. And then just a week later we turned up for our annual trip to Toowoomba for the David Hack day at the Airport and another 600 cars to look at. These cars, most of them you only see at this day each year. An enjoyable day was had by all with 9 club cars turning out and even a FC yellow cab sedan which sadly doesn’t belong to the Club but Harry is working on that. Good Luck Harry. Month of April MeetingThis month’s meeting was attended by 12 members. The discussion soon turned to Greg’s car and when it will be on the road. Well that following weekend he was going to take it for a small trial run. Greg will be venturing out to Acacia Ridge on Friday night the 15th May in the sedan. I am happy to say our membership has grown this year with membership reaching 55. Welcome to all the new members and some of the old ones that have found their way back to the fold. WANTED -John Wright is looking for a FE Ute if you happen to know of one let me know and we will pass it on. MAY 31st – Blues and Jazz Festival at Broadbeach “Plus markets for the Girls” Come along and enjoy the day with good company and some excellent music and the Markets. We will meet at BP Yatala at 8.30am and cruise on to the Broadbeach State School where we can park. We will then venture over to where everything is happening. For details of the program you can go to the website: http://www.bluesonbroadbeach.com and sort out what you may like to see the most as there are about 6 different areas operating at once. It will be a very relaxing day so come along and enjoy. Hopefully the weather will be kind. See you all at the BP at 8.30am - come along!! Dick Johnson Racing MuseumMember John Wright has come up with a very good idea for a cruise. If we book a group we can have a guided tour of Dick’s racing stable and collection and then we could then venture onto Jacob’s Well for lunch of Fish and Chip’s or what you fancy. We need to know numbers so we can book a group tour, so please give me a call on 3219 6707 and if we get a good number we will book it for either the end of June or beginning of July. We would have to book it for a Saturday as they don’t do the tours on a Sunday. Cruise’s IdeasDo you have a favourite spot that you like to go to, how about telling us or better still lead us there one weekend. Send an email or give me a ring with all the info and I will try and organise a cruise to there. We need more runs on the north side of Brisbane. It doesn’t have to be a great distance just something that would make for a pleasant outing. NATIONALS 2010 JUST 324 DAYS TO GO(I think I made a small miscalculation last month)Below I have set out the members I know are definitely going, so if you are not on the list and want to go let me know. We still have I know it may sound a long room with one double cabin that can sleep two couples not taken. We know that the motel across the road from our Caravan Park has limited vacancies and if you wish to stay there instead of at the Park the Motel number is 1300650464 and the name is Country Comfort Orange Motel. If you are doing this please let me know as we need to work out if we have enough beds for everyone. Definite starters for the Caravan Park are: Harry Brazier, Steve Brazier, Ron Richardson, Roy Hill, Wayne Dingle, Ron Cook, Keith Hansen, Greg Pritchard, Bruce Webster, Bob Foley, Michael Boyle and Mick Koetsier. Definite starters who have booked their own accommodation are Gerard McCarthy, John Wright Jason Blanchard and David Rooney (Casino). |
